Posted birdcage movement with one piece column turned corner posts beneath pierced frets with integral vase turned finials and iron bell stand with brass hanging loop to the rear on ball feet with two iron wall spikes.
Six inch break arch silvered dial with Roman numerals, foliate engraved centre and silvered alarm setting disc. Brass corner spandrels and silvered boss to the arch signed Mark Draper, Witham.
Thirty hour weight driven movement with anchor escapement and verge escapement alarm mechanism transversely mounted to the right hand side of the frame, circa 1740
The clock now stands on a later oak, carved bracket.
Watchmakers and clockmakers of the world by Brian Loomes lists Mark Draper as working in Witham from circa 1729-1781.
