George II giltwood and gesso mirror with beveled two glass parts within a lattice and flowerhead decorated border. Frame is decorated with flowerheads and scrolling acanthus and surmounted by a central female mask within a shell motif. Old but not original glass. A similar mirror can be seen page 79, fig. 57 of Graham Child’s World Mirrors, 1650-1900. The central stylized shell or anthemion surmount above a female mask is particularly similar to this mirror.
