Splendid antique English sterling silver brandy/spirits warmer, George II period, 1743
Attributed to Edward Wakelin- the initials in the Gothic style correspond to Wakelin’s, perhaps a variation of his best known mark with the fleur de lis symbol
Original finely turned wood handle, elegant slightly flaring circular form with a nicely shaped base.
Fully hallmarked on the base, London, Lion Passant for sterling silver, the letter date corresponding to 1743, makers mark EW
Very good condition for an object of this age, nice patina to the silver and the handle, ever so slightly out of round at the rim.
Weight approximately 3.8 troy ounces
3.5 inches diameter, 5.25 inches height to handle, 2.25 inches height to top of silver vessel.
Wonderful, historically interesting barware piece.
