A wonderful and impressive pair antique Dutch Delft tin glazed hand painted blue and white art pottery wall plates dating from the first half of the 18th Century and probably dating from around 1730. The plates are of wide round shape with a shallow bowl like centre and a flat raised rim. Both are hand painted in similar style with stylized floral designs set with in a larger central petalled flower. The upper rim is painted with a series of simple repeat design panels set within simple line borders. The plates are painted in blue on a white tin glazed ground. The plates have unglazed round foot rims with various kiln stilt marks and neither is marked.
In good condition with the usual glaze fritting and chipping around the rim with a few larger chips as shown, nonetheless in exceptional condition for their age and a wonderful pair to display.
