A English George III scarlet gilt-japanned desk; superbly, later decorated with rich gilt chinoiserie on a scarlet lacquered background, the fall-front opening to reveal a similarly decorated writing slide and various pigeon-holes and drawers; above four drawers all decorated and with brass handles. There are many interesting scenes, with peacocks, pagodas, bamboo and charming depictions of panda bears. The drawers internally are lined with pasted down early XIX Century newspapers.
